Just noticed this post, Nigel. The shade of green on the windowsill in the last shot was my father’s favourite colour. We used to see it regularly on metal bridges when we were travelling; I don’t know if it was a special rustproofing paint. But he just loved it, so every year at Christmas I would search for a plaid shirt containing that shade. He would wear them, one at a time, until it fell apart—preserving his supply, I suppose.

Oh, Joseph, my goodness: what a wonderful observation and comment. I love the connection you have to your father through a specific colour. (It’s made me think if my father has a favourite colour; possibly it’s a vibrant yellow). Many thanks for sharing your memoir-in-miniature.
